Geography

Kocreya ranges from grasslands and temperate climates in the south to polar tundra to the north. Southern parts are often used for farming since the soil is rich and produces high quality crops. The nation is pretty mountainous and the highest peaks are covered in snow all year round. Instead of focusing on city-building, it's common to find pockets of four to five Kocreyan families living near each other and on good terms but nothing much bigger than that. The mountains of Kocreya are rugged and hard to traverse if you're not used to the region. Some Froads hail Kocreya as having the most beautiful mountain terrain, balanced between cold and clear rivers throughout the nation.

Culture

Because of the harsh climate, Kocreyans live in large houses with their trusted friends and relatives. Each housemate has its own role to make sure they don't run out of supplies. Even if the weather is jarring at times, they enjoy living here and rarely dream of moving away, with family dependency and trust being a big part of their relationships. They raise their young by themselves and teach them necessary skills to survive. Many Kocreyans are livestock farmers and vegetable farmers, while others produce textiles and clothing for various purposes. They enjoy sports like skiing and knitting animal toys.

Their cuisine is pretty simple and uses lots of meat. Most dishes resemble stews and thick porridge, though they also make quite a bit of baked foods that can fill them up quickly. To make sure the meat doesn't expire they often dry it or preserve it in salt which makes for a great snack during hard work.

Kocreyans build their homes using a mix of stone, brick and wood. They make sure the walls and roofs are sturdy so they won't collapse under the weight of snow. Most of the buildings have basements for storing winter supplies and preserves. Houses are commonly decorated with sheets of patterned fabric.

Local Attire

Kocreyan attire often includes many layers to deal with the snow and cold weather. Because of their deftness with textile-making, attire is a big part of their culture, and it's common to find a single piece of clothing that takes hours upon hours to make. Each piece is like its own work of art! Many pieces also include thick wool or furs, and it's relatively common to find a Kocreyan covered head-to-toe in their attire of choice. Ponchos or shawls are also common, as well as those with hoods. There's usually not much room for jewelry with Kocreyan attire, as their focus lies in their clothing itself.
